The heat, floods and hurricanes.... oh my.

It was a tough 2nd half of the year. Many members were affected by the storms and flooding. Many events were postponed and others had to be cancelled. But this group is all about fun and we made it through. Below are just some of the big events that did happen.
Sept 14th.. A group of Sun Riders got together for a great lunch at Ozona Blue in Palm Harbor.
Oct 19th.. A meetup at the Lake Mirror Car show in Lakeland. This is a club favorite and is one of the best shows in the central Florida area.
Nov 1st, 2nd and 3rd.. Our annual trip to Fort Pierce to join other Florida Miata Clubs at the Summer Crush Winery. We travel down to Ft Pierce on Friday with a planned lunch stop on the way. Dinner that evening was at a local seafood restaurant. Saturday, it's off to the car show. All Miata's at this show and there are some pretty cool cars that show up. Saturday night is pizza and game time back at the hotel. This year, our very own Jim and Kim won best of show.
Not only that but Steve and Justin both won trophy's for their cars.
We heard Kim had to hold the trophy on her lap with it sticking out the window the whole way home because it wouldn't fit in the trunk.
Dec 1st.. After a flurry of rescheduling due to the storms, the annual picnic was a great success. About 70 members showed up for the Havana Nights themed event. Some pretty slick outfits and bling were on display by members. Catered BBQ and sides were outstanding. Member Lightning Jack provided the entertainment for us again this year. That steel drum made you feel like you were in Havana.
Jan 11th.. A group of members got together for the annual trip to Kissimmee for the Mecum Auction.
Jan 14th.. Our annual kickoff meeting for the new year was held again at the Bahama Breeze restaurant in Tampa. A large group of members filled the private room. New events and plans for the upcoming year were on the agenda. Check the calendar page for what's coming up !

From Spring to the dog days of Summer.

April 7th.. Bowling at Maple Lanes ! A club favorite ! Lunch afterwards at LBC. (Local Brewing Co) in Palm Harbor.
April 18th, 19th and 20th.. A group of SunRiders setup at Mazda of Clearwater to help celebrate their one year anniversary at the new location. Food trucks, prizes and 3 days of fun hanging out with new friends and new members.
April 20th.. A trip to the Early Bird Dinner Theater in Clearwater for dinner and a show. A comedy written by Steve Martin. Food is always good there and the show was excellent.
April 27th.. Another club favorite ! A large group of Sun Riders made the journey to the Yahala Bakery and Yalaha Bootlegging Co. A beautiful day with lots to see and do.
May 4th .. A new adventure for us ! A group of SunRiders went to the Festival of Speed held at the new beautiful World Equestrian Center in Ocala Fl. Some really nice cars at this event !
June 2nd.. Sweet Treat runs are back !! Everyone met up at Jeremiahs Italian Ice in Largo.
June 22nd.. A return trip to the Lakeridge Winery in Clermont Fl. We haven't been there in a number of years. We got there early and setup camp under the biggest oak tree we could find. A tour of the winery, lunch and some great music rounded out the day.
June 30th.. Sweet Treat number 2. Everyone met at the Baskin Robbins in Oldsmar.
July 13th.. A lunch meetup at Thomas P's Sports Bar in Tampa. Good food. Good Friends and Good times !!
July 28th.. Sweet Treat number 3. The iconic Dairy Joy in south Tampa.

The end of one and the start of another fun year !

Dec 2nd.. The Florida Mines Ride. We've done this before and it's a fun one. Starting near Brandon and heading east to Bartow you'll find some great winding roads. 14 cars made the trip this time with lunch at Sonny's in Bartow.
Dec 10th.. The annual Holiday Party !! This years event was back at Banquet Masters in Clearwater.
A fabulous buffet meal with so many choices, it was hard to decide what to have. Afterwards, the always fun dirty Santa gift exchange. Some pretty good gifts were bounced around before finding new homes. Check out those towels that were a HOT commodity !
Jan 7th.. A large group of Sun Riders joined the Tampa Bay Miata's for their annual gathering at Fort Desoto. Some great looking Miata's from all generations to look at.
Jan 21st.. A bunch of Sun Riders met up at the Festival of Speed in St Petersburg. Always a lot to see there.
Jan 27th.. A trip to the Medieval Times in Kissimmee Fl. Dinner and a show was enjoyed by the group.
Feb 10th.. Planes Trains and Automobiles. A large group of members attended this annual event held at the Plant City Airport. The weather was perfect and show was great. If you haven't been to this one, you're missing out on one great time. Our own Dave from Atlas Aviation was there and signed up several Sun Riders for flight lessons !
Feb 24th.. A return trip to the car show at Lakewood Ranch. We met at the Skyway rest stop and caravanned to the show. This one has a lot of high end autos to check out. Lunch afterwards at McGraths in the square.
March 8th.. St Pete Grand Prix weekend !!
March 9th.. A large group of Sun Riders attended (and showed their cars) at the first annual car show for the Imagine Museum in St Pete. An excellent show and a tour through the museum made this one great day !!
March 16th.. Game Show Ride 8 Time ! To boldly go where no members have been before. This years event had 19 cars traversing their way through 3 counties answering 67 zany questions. A quick break at Boyetts Grove halfway through and then onward to our lunch destination at the Brooksville Country Club. New champions, Kerri and Dave, were crowned with 52 of 67 correct. GSR7 champs, Debbie and Dave were second with 51 of 67 correct. Joyce and Brian snagged 3rd with 47 of 67 correct. Everyone had a good time.
