I just joined the club this weekend after purchasing a 1992 base model Miata with less than 7,000 miles. It looks great, but I suspect some things need to be replaced due to age.
Would appreciate any suggestions on a good shop to evaluate all fluid lines, cylinders, bushings, etc for age problems. A little nervous that my lack of knowledge could make this very expensive at the wrong shop. Central Pinellas county preferred, but it's worth driving some distance for a good shop.
Also looking for a set of OEM alloy wheels and new tires (new-looking original tires are still on the car!) if anyone has a suggestions for the best place to buy.
Looking forward to participating!
Thank you,
Michael |

Michael, I've not used him myself, but I've heard very good things about this guy in Tampa.
813-333-1100 ask for Jeff He only works by appointment and gives his customers very personal attention.
Also in Tampa is MazTech, and in Largo is Mazsport. I can't say much about either of them, either. I do my own work so I haven't been to a local shop in many years.
If you get to needing a new soft-top, I recommend http://www.justmiatatops.com Not sure where he's located now but he's somewhere in Pinellas.
Hope this helps.

Hello Michael. Come to the next meeting of the Sunriders in June. There you can pick the brain(?) of other members and get their opinions as where to service your miata. The 1600 engine in a 92 is a sweet running motor. Looking forward to meeting you. Ralph |

Thanks for the leads on shops, Kevin. Did some web searches on the MazSport in Largo but could not find any reviews. Will check them out.
Can't wait for the next meeting, Ralph. Will see you there for sure.
Thanks,
Michael

I know it is quite a distance for you but we found a great shop in Bradenton. Gulf Auto Clinic. We take our 1990 there and they do a terrific job, quickly and reasonably. The manager (Mike)is a Mazada gearhead and used to race Miatas. They only use Mazada parts when possible. Tell them John and Marie Panyik sent you.

Hi Ralph,
Just dropped the car off to Scott. Thank you very much for the information--he and Dan seem great. Quite an impressive shop!

Hi Marie,
Thank you for the reference. Since it is just routine maintenance right now I will stay a little closer to home, but it is good to know about alternatives if major wokr comes along.
Thanks again,
Michael

Yep Dan, I'm not really active in the club anymore but I still look after the forum and try to answer any tech questions that come up. Have some new toys now (see sig) but still have the Miatae.
Michael, would love to see some pics of your car. Sounds like something special.
